Building Trust With Sellers

Posted By Paul Xumsai on February 08, 2020 in Selling

In every facet of a relationship, nothing is more important than trust. This holds true when working with sellers. Unfortunately, real estate agents are often associated as being another “salespeople,” which implies that an agent will say or do anything to “win” a listing.

Whether you’re a newcomer or an experienced agent, gaining your client’s trust takes time and effort. A successful agent-client relationship is key to growing and maintaining your business.

Here are a few ways to build and sustain trust with sellers that can lead to lasting relationships and real estate success:

Keep Sellers in the Loop

Nothing is more annoying to the seller than not know what’s happening with the listing.  Communication is the most important component in a good relationship. Decide early on the best method of communication and stick to it. Keep the sellers up to date on every aspects of their home.

Don’t Overpromise

The real estate industry is ultra competitive. Not only are you competing with another office, you are sometimes competing with another agent within your office to get the listing. For this reason, agents may make promises that they can’t keep.  And when the promise is broken, so is the trust.

Being honest about what you can and can’t deliver can help you earn the seller’s respect and trust, and lead to repeat business and referrals that ultimately add up to long-term real estate success.

Real estate is a great and rewarding career. And when it comes to sales, it’s all about the relationship.
