Thailand impose Covid-19 color zone to help contain the coronavirus

With the second wave of the coronavirus hitting Thailand in epic proportion, the country has yet to declare a nationwide lockdown or curfew. It has, however, imposed Covid-19 zoning control. According to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), four Covid-19 color zones have been implemented and is effective immediately to all provinces.

The four Covid-19 color zones are:

RED ZONE – This is a high-risk zone due to the high number of coronavirus infection. The government has maximum authority to act on the best interest of the general public. Red Zone areas are under lockdown and curfew.

  • Samut Sakhon is the only province in the Red Zone. 

ORANGE ZONE – This is a medium-risk zone, usually having more than 10 infection cases.

  • Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, and Samut Songkhram are assigned in the Orange Zone.

YELLOW ZONE – This is a lower-risk zone, usually having less than 10 infection cases. 

  • Twenty-five provines are named to the Yellow Zone: Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Chai Nat, Chaiyaphum, Kamphaeng Phet, Khiri Khan, Khon Kaen, Krabi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchabun, Phetchaburi, Phichit, Phuket, Prachin Buri, Prachuap, Samut Prakan, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, and Uttaradit.

GREEN ZONE – This is the safe zone. This area has no infection and low chances of having a coronavirus infection.

  • The rest of the provinces are considered safe and assigned to the Green Zone.
