Bangkok Metropolitan Administration announces lockdown to prevent further spread of the coronavirus

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered the shutdown of certain industries to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The order applies to all Bangkok districts and is effective immediately.

Here is the list of venues ordered to shutdown from January 2 – 15, 2021:

  • Bars, pubs, and entertainment venues
  • Snookers and billiard clubs
  • Bowling, skating rings, and similar arenas
  • Water parks, amusement parks
  • Playgrounds and children’s play center
  • Schools and tutoring places (until January 17)
  • Childcare and day car centers
  • Elderly care facilities (except for overstays)
  • Conference and meeting rooms
  • Banquet rooms
  • Arcades, gaming, and Internet centers
  • Amulet centers
  • Tattoo parlors
  • Martial art schools
  • Boxing rings
  • Dance schools
  • Fitness centers, gyms, and yoga centers
  • Spas, health, and wellness center
  • Large massage parlors and traditional Thai massage parlors
  • All racing tracks (including horse, car, and dog) 
  • Bullfighting, cockfighting, and fish fighting rings

Alcoholic drinks are restricted from being served in restaurants and bars.

Beauty clinics, department stores, driving ranges, exercising grounds, gardens, golf courses, hairdressers, large retail stores, museums, nail parlors, parks, pet grooming, sporting fields, sports stadiums, supermarkets, swimming pools, and zoos are allowed to remain open with restrictions.
