Chicago Cubs signed coveted young prospect Dominican shortstop Cristian Hernandez

One the first day of International Signing Period, the Chicago Cubs signed coveted young prospect Dominican shortstop Cristian Hernandez. He will join the Cubs on a $3-million deal. MLB.com ranks Hernandez, 17, as the No. 6 international prospect.

According to Baseball America, the Cubs have agreed to deals with six other international prospects:

  • Curacao outfielder Raino Coran
  • Venezuelan catcher Moises Ballesteros
  • Dominican outfielder Daniel Ferreira
  • Venezuelan left-hander Carlos Cabrera
  • Dominican outfielder Offerman Hernandez
  • Venezuelan catcher Carlos Ramos.
