Thailand records highest confirmed Covid-19 infection

Thailand  - On Sunday, Thailand recorded its highest daily infection count of 1,767 for Covid-19. This brings the accumulated number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began to 42,352, of which 101 death occurred.

This latest wave of infection initiated from the Thonglor’s entertainment area and has spread throughout the country. The new transmission has spread to all 77 provinces, with heavy concentration on six provinces:

  • Bangkok (347 cases)
  • Chon Buri (229 cases)
  • Chiang Mai (164 cases) 
  • Nonthaburi (100 cases)
  • Prachuap Khiri Khan (66 cases)
  • Samut Prakan (64 cases)

All but two of the confirmed cases were local except for two. The two imported cases were arrivals from Canada and Pakistan.

More provinces join travel restrictions

Thailand’s Interior Ministry announced that 44 provinces have now imposed restrictions on new arrivals in an attempt to contain the spread.
