More closures in Bangkok effective immediately

Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) announced more closures and restrictions to take place beginning today. Not viewed as a total lockdown, the mandate aims to help control the spread of the third wave of Covid-19.

In addition, BMA imposed a 20,000 baht fine for anyone caught not wearing a mask.

Here is a list of the businesses that are now closed or have restricted hours:

  • Amulet shops
  • Amusement theme parks, include water parks
  • Banquet halls
  • Bowling alleys
  • Boxing stadiums and schools
  • Convention centers
  • Dance halls and studios
  • Elderly care centers
  • Entertainment venues
  • Fitness centers
  • Horse racing tracks
  • Internet cafes
  • Libraries
  • Martial arts facilities
  • Meeting rooms
  • Movie Theaters
  • Museums
  • Plant and flower nurseries
  • Public swimming pools
  • Skate parks
  • Snooker, billiard, pool parlors
  • Sporting venues
  • Tattoo parlors
  • Thai massage parlors
  • Video game shops
  • Weight control clinics
  • Wellness centers
  • Zoos
  • Convenience stores are allowed to stay open from 5am - 10pm
  • Shopping malls are allowed to stay open from 11am - 8pm
  • Beauty salons and hairdressers may open but customers have to wait outside
  • No gatherings of more than 20 people
